Our Manifesto
Getting Retrofit Right Matters
Retrofit work does not end when installation is complete. The real outcome is shown in how homes perform for the people living in them.
Retrofit work does not end when the installation is complete. It shows up in how a home feels weeks and months later. In whether the air is dry or damp. In whether the space is comfortable, or begins to develop problems that were not there before.
Done properly, retrofit improves homes and reduces carbon. Done badly, it can introduce new risks: damp, mould, poor air quality, and work being repeated, materials being replaced, and more time spent returning to fix what should have been right the first time.
That has a cost: for the people living there, for the contractors delivering the work, and for the overall impact we are trying to achieve.
What We Believe
We believe retrofit should improve homes without creating new problems. That means understanding the property before making changes, identifying risks early, and ensuring the work carried out reflects what was designed.
We believe carbon reduction should come from doing things properly the first time. Every unnecessary revisit, every failed installation, and every piece of rework carries an environmental cost as well as a financial one.
And we believe the health and safety of the people living in these homes should never be compromised in the pursuit of targets.
Why It Matters
When retrofit is not delivered properly:
- Homes do not perform as expected
- Issues like damp, condensation, and poor ventilation can arise
- Additional visits and rework become necessary
- The overall carbon impact increases rather than decreases
These outcomes are avoidable, but only if the process behind the work is robust, visible, and accountable.
Our Responsibility
We do not see these issues as isolated. They are the result of gaps in information, process, and accountability. Our responsibility is to close those gaps.
- Capture the right information before work begins through structured assessments, surveys, and a clear understanding of each property
- Ensure designs are appropriate, evidence-based, and delivered by people with the right level of competence for the risks involved
- Bring visibility across the entire process so every stage from assessment to installation is connected, traceable, and understood
- Require evidence, not assumption, so work completed on site can be verified, not just signed off
- Create a clear audit trail of who did what, and when, so accountability does not disappear when something goes wrong
This is not about adding more process. It is about making sure the process actually works.
The Outcome
When retrofit is delivered this way:
- Homes are healthier and more comfortable
- Customers can trust the result
- Contractors avoid returning to correct work
- Carbon savings are realised as intended
Because in retrofit, the difference between doing the job and doing it properly is significant. That difference determines whether we are genuinely improving homes or simply creating more work.
